Artists of the Month

Kimberly Pittman

Kimberly Pittman is a self-taught artist who became fascinated with art at an early age, eager to pick up a pencil and a scrap piece of paper to draw anything. Her first real sketches were of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. Her parents were very surprised at the detail that Kimberly brought to her sketches.

In her early 20’s, Kimberly branched out into painting. Her favorite medium is acrylic, finding it one of the easiest mediums to work with. Her paintings on display this month are a style known as fluid pour, a style that she has come to love. Kimberly states, “I hope you enjoy each piece as much as I enjoyed making them.”

Cassandra Phillips-Dixon

Cassandra Phillips-Dixon is a recent graduate of The LeMoyne-Owen College with a Degree in Visual Arts. While working toward her degree, Cassandra’s portfolio and study included graphics, acrylic and oil paintings, and photography.

Her love is acrylic paintings, sketching with mix media (charcoal and ebony pencils), photography, Abstract Non-Objective and African Art. In addition to painting, Cassandra is a professional Makeup Artist in Memphis and acknowledges that her love of art and makeup go hand in hand.
