Artist of the Month: Nancy Adair

Artist of the Month
Nancy Adair
A self-described ‘Navy Brat,’ local artist and freelance interior decorator, Nancy Adair has a background as varied and colorful as her work. Besides her formal training, she actively pursued enhancing techniques by attending workshops and classes in oil and watercolor painting with some of the area’s finest artists – Sandy Sander, Marilyn Wannamaker, Anne Enochs, Lafayette Ragsdale, Fred Rawlings and others.
A turning point in her development occurred after a visit to Murano, Italy, which peaked her desire to work with glass. She learned fused glass techniques by studying with Jan Singer and Teresa White. She discovered the ancient art of encaustic painting (pigmented hot wax ‘painted’ with a heat gun).
Nancy does not limit herself to any one medium. Whether depicting large floral oil paintings or waterscapes, creating collages or embracing new opportunities in teach art, she has merged experience with self-discovery and allowed her talent to venture beyond normal boundaries.
Nancy lives in Germantown and is an active member and past president of the Bartlett Art Association. Her work can be found through out Oregon, Washington, South Dakota, Minnesota and the southern states.
